Taunton School students are once again celebrating outstanding (I)GCSE examination results. Overall, 162 students have received their GCSE results at the School today. 13% of these results are graded 9 and 45% graded 9-7. Notably, for the top 100 performers, 20% of results are graded 9 and 64% graded 9-7.
Headmaster James Johnson said: “Waiting for exam results is always an anxious time for students, parents and teachers alike. The hope is that all candidates are fairly rewarded for their efforts with grades that facilitate the next steps planned. I am delighted that this is the case for so many of our students and congratulate them all on the sustained commitment that sitting multiple exams in many subjects demands. 
“Taunton School is proud of the diverse GCSE pathways on offer and our excellent, long-established reputation in both the two-year and one-year GCSE programmes. None of this happens without the vital combination of student engagement, teacher guidance and parental support, all of which have been in evidence again this year.”
Although most students at Taunton School take two years to complete their GCSE studies, the school offers international students an accelerated pathway that allows them to take their GCSE examinations after only one year. Almost a third of its students completing their studies this year have personalised their learning in this way.
Taunton School International Head, Camilla Bryden, said: “I am delighted, once again, with this year’s results for our One-Year GCSE cohort. The overall pass rate for this cohort is the best for a number of years and half of all grades are 9-7.
“It is the commitment and dedication of our teachers and wider staff, who deliver such an excellent provision for our students, of which I am so proud. I wish to thank everyone who has been part of this success. Congratulations to all our students who have performed so well.”
This year, students at Taunton School have taken GCSE and IGCSE qualifications in over 35 subjects. This ensures every student has a curriculum that is suited to them and on which they can thrive. Taunton School also provides international students the option to study a bespoke Pre-GCSE programme.
Many students will now head to Taunton School Sixth Form to study A-Levels, BTEC, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the International Foundation Year.
