A leading waste management company is supporting Somerset Road Safety’s Red Card 4 Drink Drive campaign by helping to promote safer roads across the county – particularly around sporting events.
Bridgwater-based S Roberts Group is working alongside Somerset Council’s Road Safety Officers to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving and to encourage motorists to plan their journeys responsibly.
Mike Smalley, Road Safety Coordinator at Somerset Road Safety, said: “We are very grateful to S Roberts Group for supporting our Red Card 4 Drink Drive campaign. By wearing our high-visibility vests on sites and across communities throughout Somerset, their teams are helping us reinforce an important road safety message to thousands of people. 
“Drink driving remains one of the most dangerous decisions a driver can make, yet it is entirely preventable. If you’re watching football, rugby, cricket or other sporting events and planning to celebrate, make sure your journey home is part of your plans. Choose a designated driver, book a taxi, use public transport, or stay overnight.
“Together, we can give drink driving a red card and play our part in keeping Somerset’s roads safe for everyone.”
There is no safe amount of alcohol to consume before driving and choosing to get behind the wheel after drinking can have devastating consequences for drivers, passengers and other road users.
By supporting the initiative and displaying campaign messaging across its operations and community activities, S Roberts Group is reinforcing its commitment to road safety and helping spread a very important message across Somerset.
