SWALLOW Charity, the winner of the Somerset Business Awards Charity of the Year 2024, has been given a unique fundraising opportunity by Corporate Friend, The Somerset Toiletry Company.
The company has just launched a new soap bar to raise money for SWALLOW’s work supporting local teenagers and adults with learning disabilities and the soap is just one way they are supporting the charity.
They are keen to support SWALLOW members into work and the work skills groups visited the factory late last year and had the opportunity not only to see the soaps being made, but also to have a go at wrapping the bars.
Earlier this year, one of the members started working at The STC Soap Bar Café, in Clutton, and in August SWALLOW’s garden maintenance team were employed to give the café gardens a makeover.
Now they have produced a special soap to raise money, just in time for Christmas.
The soap is wrapped in packaging designed by Molly (pictured), a member of SWALLOW’s Tuesday Art Group. Her bee design was inspired by the soap’s natural ingredients.
Molly said: “It was the best experience of my life – especially meeting the designer who worked with my picture to make the packaging.”
The project is part of the Somerset Toiletry Company’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The bars are available from The Somerset Toiletry Company website and online at SWALLOW’s online shop. The soap costs £6.95 and £5 from the sale of every bar goes directly to support SWALLOW Charity’s ongoing work.
SWALLOW is a local charity providing support to teenagers and adults with learning disabilities. The services they offer include independent living skills training, work skills opportunities, supported housing, health and fitness and social activities and outreach in the community.
