Somerset rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming charity, Ferne Animal Sanctuary’s popular Pet Celebration event is set to return on Sunday, February 16, from 10am to 4pm, held at the 72-acre sanctuary based in the Blackdown Hills near Chard.
Falling in the same week as Valentine’s Day and Love Your Pet Day, Ferne Animal Sanctuary’s Pet Celebration event promises a fun day out for all the family to kick off February half term. The day will provide visitors with exclusive access to the sanctuary’s site located in a National Landscapes area, including a picturesque four-mile social dog walk at 11am to The Cotley Inn, as well as plenty of activities for all ages.
Kevan Hodges, Chief Executive Officer of Ferne Animal Sanctuary, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to our Pet Celebration event this year. A firm favourite amongst the local community and beyond, the day not only provides a fun-packed schedule of activities across our scenic sanctuary but also creates an opportunity to host and support local businesses whilst raising life-changing donations for over 300 animals that we currently house and care for at Ferne.”
For the first time, the Pet Celebration event will host Allwinds – a dog first aid organisation – to run a dog first aid training course in the conference room for dog parents and professionals alike to learn life-saving skills. Graduates of the dog first aid training course will receive a certificate, valid for three years, which is fully compliant with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and The Animal Welfare Act 2006.
In addition, local business Beautiful Monsters Pet Photography will be holding a professional pet photoshoot located in the sanctuary’s former Nina’s Café building during the Pet Celebration event.
For the little ones, the Pet Celebration event will provide a range of fun activities such as animal-themed arts and crafts in Creative Corner, as well as a pet photo competition for the chance to win a prize. To participate in the photo competition, visitors are asked to bring a picture of their pet to display within the sanctuary’s visitor centre for voting.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary is offering attendees a reduced entry fee of £5 per adult and £1 per child via the sanctuary’s visitor centre on the day of the Pet Celebration event.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary is a non-Government funded charity that has provided refuge and rehabilitation to its animals for more than 85 years. Located in a National Landscape area nestled in the Blackdown Hills near Chard, Somerset, Ferne Animal Sanctuary houses and cares for circa 300 animals on its 72-acre site.
