Battens Solicitors is delighted to announce the promotion of four colleagues to Associate Director, recognising their outstanding contributions to the firm, their clients and their teams.
The promotions of Gemma Galvani, Cath Knapman, Samantha Pattle and Jacqui Swann reflect Battens’ commitment to developing talent and recognising excellence across the business. 
Gemma Galvani, Solicitor and Family Team Leader, joined Battens in 2016. A specialist children’s law solicitor and member of the Law Society’s Children Panel, Gemma has built a strong reputation for supporting children and families through complex legal proceedings. In 2025, she received the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award at the Devon and Somerset Law Society Awards in recognition of her exceptional work.
Cath Knapman joined Battens in 2008 and has developed her career through a variety of HR and management roles, progressing to Head of HR in 2025. Her promotion recognises her longstanding commitment to the firm and the significant contribution she makes in supporting colleagues and working closely with the senior leadership team.
Samantha Pattle has been a key member of the Residential Property Team since joining Battens Solicitors as a solicitor just over five years ago. Promoted to Team Leader for the Sherborne and Castle Cary offices in 2024, Sam has played an important role in the continued success of both teams while also helping raise the firm’s profile through local networking and relationship building.
Jacqui Swann began her career with Battens in 2007 and has progressed from Legal Secretary to CILEX Lawyer. Jacqui also leads the Dispute Resolution and Property Dispute Resolution teams, combining technical excellence with strong leadership and support for colleagues.
