WPA staff raise over £8,000 for good causes during 2025

WPA teams have spent 2025 making a real difference in their communities. Through monthly fundraising events, each supporting a charity close to their hearts, they have raised an impressive £6,314 for local organisations including PromiseWorks, The Opportunity Group, Devon Air Ambulance and the Children’s Hospice South West.

In the run up to Christmas, there is an even bigger push, usually for a Christmas related theme.  This year, the team worked with Family Support Officers from across the region who help support the families of profoundly ill children. WPA Staff raised another £2,347 which meant that around 234 children from across the South West, who the Family Support Officers have been helping during 2025, will receive an extra gift this Christmas.

The Chief Executive of the WPA Foundation, Charlie MacEwan (pictured), said: “I have been at WPA for 25 years and the team’s generosity never ceases to amaze me.  It’s fabulous that we can help so many children to have a an even better Christmas.

“Not a week goes by without another heart wrenching story or two making my thanks all the more profound.  I’m not only grateful to the WPA team but also remain in awe of what the Family Support Officers do to help their families, parents and children cope.

“We would not be able to do what we do for our community without such a team effort.  If only Christmas could happen more often.”

The latest thank you for the WPA team said: “Thank you for all your efforts in fundraising for Christmas presents for children and siblings that we look after as part of the long term complex health and palliative care team.

“The children, families and siblings all send their heartfelt thanks for your kind gifts and the ongoing support from the WPA Foundation throughout the year.

“Many of the families face mounting costs to frequent appointments around the country to provide care for their children – with time off work, rising costs of food and fuel they are often left with very little to live on. You literally provide a lifeline to these families when they need it the most.”
