Strode College students win prestigious police award for powerful domestic abuse awareness work

Strode College’s performing arts students have been honoured with an Educational Partnership Award by Avon and Somerset Police for their inspiring and courageous work raising awareness of domestic abuse.

This recognition follows their standout contribution to ‘Strong Voices, Safe Communities’, a community-focused conference held at Strode College on June 2.

The award nomination came from Detective Superintendent Kristina Windsor, who praised the students’ creative approach and the meaningful impact they had on attendees.

Using drama as a medium for social change, the students developed and performed a powerful series of short scenes exploring the harsh realities of coercive control—sparking emotional discussions and calls to action from employers, community leaders and frontline services.

“We are beyond proud of our students,” said John Revill, Principal and CEO of Strode College. “Their hard-work, empathy, and talent brought to life the importance of bystander intervention and community responsibility. This award is affirmation that our young people are the change agents that society needs.”
