Somerset businesses encourage to take part in free data analytics training

Somerset County Council is working with the University of Exeter to offer free training events on data analytics to Somerset businesses.

The Government-funded project is designed to help firms better understand the data analytics/science needs of businesses in Somerset and deliver specialist training to organisations.

Businesses which take part will also have the opportunity to apply to receive free specialist one-to-one sessions provided by the University of the West of England (UWE).

To qualify for the training the following criteria needs to be met:

• Be a small, medium or large business who uses data and could benefit from further data analytics expertise or has ambition and potential for innovation
• Be a business in, or supplying, growth sectors such as clean growth, aerospace, digital, agri-tech, etc.
• Be based within the Somerset County Council area

Businesses which meet the criteria are being asked to register for one of the following:

• Training event one
  • Location: in-person at a venue in Somerset
  • Date: Tuesday, May 10, 2022
  • Time: 10am – 12pm
  • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region, Prof Richard Everson from University of Exeter on Data Science and Dan Isaac from University of Exeter on Data Visualisation

• Training event two
  • Location: in-person at a venue in Somerset
  • Date: Tuesday, May 10, 2022
  • Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm
  • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region and Prof Richard Everson from University of Exeter on Machine Learning

• Training event three
  • Location: virtual on Zoom
  • Date: Monday, May 9, 2022
  • Time: 10am – 11:45am
  • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region and Dan Isaac from University of Exeter on Data Visualisation

• Training event four
  • Location: virtual on Zoom
  • Date: Monday, May 9, 2022
  • Time: 1pm – 2:45pm
  • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region and Stefan Siegert from University of Exeter on Introduction to Machine Learning

Businesses are also being asked to take part in a focus group session about challenges and issues regarding using data in their organisations:
