Somerset Council is offering mentorships for 10 more business people who are keen to expand their companies.
Following the success of the authority’s ambitious business mentoring programme which was launched earlier this year, the council is now offering places for an additional 10 mentees to sign-up.
The aim is to help businesses evolve, change and, if necessary, renew, all with the help and guidance of an experienced business mentor.
To date, the scheme has now helped 100 mentees and has more than 60 business mentors in place, including executive and senior managers, business leaders and successful entrepreneurs.
Sally Raynes, Mentor Programme Manager, said: “This is a significant milestone for the Somerset Business Mentoring Programme.
“The impact has been remarkable, with several businesses gaining recognition at local and national awards, the creation of 13 new job opportunities and the exciting launch of a new gym amongst some of its successes.
“Mentees have shared inspiring feedback, highlighting rapid business growth, boosted confidence, and the ability to pursue new ventures as direct benefits of the mentoring.”
The mentors have been chosen for their understanding of the challenges associated with running and growing a business and the value of impartial advice. They offer sector experience or a specialism in areas such as growth strategy, finance, marketing, product or service development, bid writing, acquisition, exit strategy, HR or e-commerce and more.
Businesses which think they could benefit from a fresh, experienced insight and support to grow must be over one year old with two or more employees to apply for up to six hours of free mentoring over a six-month period.
