A local charity supporting rough sleepers and those in temporary accommodation has benefitted from a volunteer day where staff from a local law firm gave up their time to help out.
Open Door Taunton welcomed staff from Clarke Willmott LLP, who spent time at the day centre sorting clothes donations, gardening and performing maintenance tasks.
The debt recovery team based at the law firm’s Taunton office wanted to offer support to the charity which cares for up to 300 people a year providing shelter, clothing, food and other support services.
Nina Green, acting deputy manager at Open Door Taunton, said: “We were delighted that staff at Clarke Willmott came to support the work we do and volunteer for the day. Additional support to the charity is always welcome and even a little can make a big difference to those we help.
“At Open Door we believe that each individual has the potential to build a fulfilling and happy life. We aim to address their practical immediate needs while also empowering them to move on into sustainable accommodation.
“Volunteering sessions like this allow us to focus on supporting the vulnerable members of the local community so we’re very grateful to the Clarke Willmott team for their enthusiasm and hard work.”
Anna O’Reilly, debt recovery team manager at Clarke Willmott, said: “Open Door Taunton do excellent work for our community and we are glad we could assist them in completing some of their tasks for the day.
“We were really pleased to have the opportunity to support both this charity and the people that they take care of.”
