Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) has announced that Jacob Fish, a student in its automotive programme, has been honoured as the Learner of the Year at the prestigious IMI Awards 2025 in London.
The IMI Awards, held annually, celebrated excellence within the automotive sector, recognising both individuals and organisations that are shaping its future.
A spokesperson for the college said Jacob’s win was a testament to his strength of character and the supportive learning environment at the college.
After overcoming significant personal challenges, including a personal loss and relocation, Jacob transitioned to a full-time IMI programme at BTC. Despite the hurdles, he demonstrated remarkable commitment and passion, striving for a long career in the industry.
Vincent Maisey, Head of Automotive and Engineering at BTC, praised Jacob’s commitment: “Jacob is a very worthy winner of this award. His exemplary application in our light vehicle Level 2 programme has not only earned him the IMI Fulltime Student of the Year award but also a bursary for continuous professional development from the Fellowship of the Motor Industry.
“This recognition provides Jacob with invaluable professional exposure, opening doors to advanced training opportunities and potential employment within leading automotive sectors.”
The 2025 award ceremony was held at the InterContinental London, Park Lane and was attended by Jacob and his teaching staff.
