BTC educates parents and carers with pathways events

Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) invited parents and guardians of Year 11 pupils to events that enhanced their understanding of the various educational pathways available.

The pathways events showcased the wide range of options that students can pursue, explaining each pathway and the opportunities available at BTC. The pathways include A Levels, T Levels, the International Baccalaureate, apprenticeships and BTECs/vocational courses. BTC is unique in Somerset, being the only educational provider to offer all the pathways.

Parents and guardians had the opportunity to engage with an expert panel of heads of curriculum from various disciplines. This interactive session allowed attendees to ask questions and gain insights into the unique features, benefits, and career prospects associated with each pathway. They also learnt about the extracurricular opportunities and support available at BTC.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, attendees left with increased confidence in their ability to guide their children towards a successful academic and career path.

Sam Reilly, Assistant Principal at BTC, said: “Our goal is to support both students and their families in making informed choices about the available options when they leave secondary school.

“There is so much choice and so many opportunities, I’m hoping this evening helped people understand how to navigate their way through them.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone at open evenings where they can dive into the various subjects, talk to tutors and teachers and visit the fantastic facilities.”
