A student from Bridgwater College, part of the UCS College Group, has earned national recognition following an outstanding season of rugby.
George Williams, who is currently studying Sports and Exercise Science at Bridgwater College, has been selected for the latest England Under-18 training squad. His call-up follows an impressive campaign with Bristol Bears U18, where he shone in the Premiership Academy Final and consistently delivered strong performances throughout the season.
George has been selected as part of the 40-player squad for the 2026 U18 Six Nations Festival, which will take place in April, and is currently participating in the players’ ongoing development programme at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.
A former student of Haygrove School, George has been a key member of the Bristol Bears Academy over the past two seasons. Known for his robustness and versatility, he has demonstrated his ability to perform across multiple positions, earning recognition for both his skill and consistency.
At Bridgwater College, George has set a strong example for fellow students and athletes alike. His commitment to improving his performance on the pitch has been matched by his dedication to his studies, successfully balancing academic responsibilities with the demands of an elite training schedule.
Brett Harvey, Head of Rugby at the College and a coach with the Bristol Bears Academy, said: “George’s selection is a fantastic achievement and reflects his hard work and commitment. He has been a great example of what it takes to be a student-athlete, and we are very proud to have one of our students recognised at an international level.”
Everyone at Bridgwater College is extremely proud of George’s achievement and wishes him every success as he joins the England U18 squad for this exciting next step in his rugby journey.
