Albert Goodman announces three new partners

Leading South West-based accountancy firm Albert Goodman has announced the promotion of three of its directors, with Robin Clempson, Tom Stone and Kelly Pinder all being made Partner at the Taunton-headquartered business.

Robin Clempson – who becomes Partner of Marketing and Business Development after two years as Marketing Director – joined Albert Goodman in 2012 and has been responsible for the marketing and communications of the accounting firm throughout a period of rapid growth, and recent expansion into Bristol. His new role will see him lead on business development opportunities for the accountancy firm.

Tom Stone, part of Albert Goodman’s Farms and Estates team, becomes Partner after 10 years at the firm joining as a school leaver in 2014. In his new role, Tom will continue leading a portfolio of farming and landed estate clients, specialising in capital tax planning advice and agricultural finance advice.

In Albert Goodman’s Tax division, Kelly Pinder transitions from Tax Director to Tax Partner. A specialist in corporate tax matters including R&D relief and capital allowances, Kelly will utilise her experience advising on a variety of subjects for both the firms’ owner-managed businesses and larger corporate clients.

Managing Partner at Albert Goodman, Iain McVicar, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer Partner positions to Robin, Tom and Kelly. The three of them are at the top of their game in their respective fields and have each played a pivotal role in Albert Goodman’s success throughout their time with the business so far.

“I and the firm are particularly proud of how the three have developed their skills and progressed through business since they first joined Albert Goodman. To be recruiting homegrown talent to Partner level is a testament to the training opportunities and culture we’ve built at the firm, and the hard work of Robin, Tom and Kelly. I look forward to seeing what they achieve next.”

The promotions follow a period of significant growth for the South West accountancy firm. The business reported an annual turnover of £21.4 million last year – up 17 per cent on the year before. Albert Goodman has also recently been announced as the headline sponsor for the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta across the next three years.

Robin Clempson, Marketing and Business Development Partner said: “I’m delighted to take on this new role within the business. Having been part of the team at Albert Goodman for over a decade, it’s been a privilege to see how we’ve grown and I feel very proud to have played a part in that. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with my excellent marketing team as we push forward with exciting opportunities over the coming years.”

Tom Stone, Farms and Estates Partner said: “I’ve been fortunate enough throughout my time at Albert Goodman to work across a variety of roles within the Farms & Estates team, and have some fantastic mentors in Iain McVicar, Sam Kirkham, and Kate Bell to help me develop. I’m excited to take the next step forward as Partner. It is certainly a challenging time for many farming businesses in the UK with the recent IHT reforms, and we as a team are busy supporting our clients in these turbulent times.”

Kelly Pinder, Tax Partner said: “I’m thrilled by the opportunity to become Tax Partner at Albert Goodman. Having started my journey back in 2008 after finishing University, the business has provided me with excellent opportunities to grow and develop my skills throughout my time here, both as an accountant and tax adviser, and I am beyond excited for this next chapter. With current economic uncertainties for many businesses, providing the best and most current tax advice has never been more important, and I look forward to continuing to closely support our portfolio of clients.”

Albert Goodman has been helping businesses across the South West for over 150 years, with offices in Taunton, Bristol, Yeovil and Weymouth.
