Cyclists from across the South West are gearing up for a spectacular ride in support of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge on Saturday, May 10.
This year, the event is extra special as it marks the charity’s 25th anniversary of saving lives.
The event offers two route options: a 55-mile route from Watchet Harbour in Somerset to West Bay in Dorset and a shorter family-friendly 11-mile route from The Royal Oak in Drimpton to West Bay.
With a mixture of quiet back roads, interspersed with some very demanding climbs and equally hairy descents, Coast to Coast has something to offer everyone. There are several pit-stops along the route, which provide a well-earned rest and refreshments.
Cyclists can take part as individuals or in teams and are encouraged to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. Every Pound helps keep the air ambulance flying, witheach mission costing around £3,500.
Alana Hardy, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Events Officer, said: “This year’s Coast to Coast is more than just a bike ride – it’s a celebration of 25 years of saving lives.
“With just over two weeks to go until event day, spaces are filling up for our 14th Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge, which brings people together while also raising muchneeded funds.”
