It’s that time of year where The Nelson Trusts’ Somerset Women’s Centre start to think about Christmas. The Women’s Centre is launching its annual Christmas appeal for hampers to deliver to vulnerable women across Somerset this festive season.
It’s important now, more than ever, to help ensure that women in Somerset feel supported this Christmas. With the cost of living crisis, the women’s centre is expecting a large influx of women to their services over this winter and has already started seeing more and more women in need of food, clothes and toiletries donations.
Somerset Women’s Centre is a one-stop-shop where women can access a wide range of support services in a safe environment. The centre offers both practical and emotional support across the nine pathways of need including housing, finances, physical, emotional and mental health, drugs and alcohol, trauma and abuse, sexual exploitation and sex-working, attitudes, thinking and behaviour, education and training and families and relationships. As well as this the centre provides onsite creche facilities, food and clothes donations, and a variety of therapeutic groups.
Over the Christmas period Somerset Women’s Centre will be putting on a variety of Christmas themed activities including arts and crafts and a Christmas lunch. They hope that by delivering pamper hampers again this year, they can bring some joy into what will be a scary time for a lot of the vulnerable women that they support.
Anyone who is able to help Somerset Women’s Centre by donating Christmas pamper hampers, or anything that might be beneficial to the Christmas appeal, should contact Sophie Duggan, the trust’s Partnership and Development Coordinator by emailing sophie.duggan@nelsontrust.com or telephoning 07739 983940.
