Taunton Senior School students were awarded first prize in 17 separate categories at the annual competition, while Taunton Prep pupils came top in 15.
The Prep School’s Senior and Junior choirs also won their respective sections at the event which showcases young talent from across Taunton.
Toby Carden, Director of Music at Taunton School, said: “We are so proud of the fabulous musical performances of all our students.
“The results reflect their passion and dedication throughout the year and we are thrilled that their success has been recognised by external adjudicators in this way.
“This historic festival is a reflection of the young musical talent which exists across Taunton and we are delighted to play our part in it.”
Taunton Festival of the Arts, which ran from January 30 to February 7, is staged at various locations, including Taunton School which this year hosted the piano, workshop and music composition categories.
The festival was set up in 1913 to give young musicians an opportunity to perform in front of experienced adjudicators. Categories range from solo instrumental and vocal performances though to ensemble, choir and sight-reading competitions.
Philippa Simmonds, Director of Music and Performing Arts at Taunton Prep School, and conductor of both the winning choirs, said: “I was very impressed by the musical calibre of all participants at the festival.
“I am now really looking forward to taking the Taunton Prep School singers to their next event, the Barnardo’s National Choir of the Year final at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in March, where we hope to continue our successful run!”
