Two cricketers from Taunton School have taken part in an international tour to Sri Lanka with Somerset County Cricket Club.
Year 10 students Oscar Coleman and Ben Church, who are both sports scholars at Taunton School, visited the country over half term as part of their commitments with the professional cricket club’s U15 Academy.
The two-week Si Lankan tour included visiting professional national training grounds, where the boys were able to experience different conditions, surfaces and climates.
Oscar and Ben have also been selected for the club’s Emerging Players Pathway, which sees them receive bespoke one-to-one coaching with the club’s professionals.
Taunton School Cricket has a longstanding relationship with Somerset County Cricket Club, with a number of students selected for the club’s prestigious county squads and academy every year.
England player and Somerset captain, Tom Abell, is a former Taunton School student.
Taunton’s Head of Cricket, Pete Sanderson, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to give the boys extra focus to their winter training, particularly when playing spin. “It’s been so great to hear about the results they gained while away and serves as great inspiration to the rest of our students.”
