Taunton Brewhouse has successfully reached its £20,000 fundraising target to secure the match funding required for the first phase of its ambitious Fit at 50 campaign.
Achieving the milestone will unlock £527,000 of funding from Arts Council England, enabling the Brewhouse to move forward with a series of essential upgrades designed to enhance the venue for audiences, artists and the wider community. 
Planned improvements include new automated doors to improve accessibility, replacement of the main house carpet and a complete comprehensive upgrade of the theatre’s lighting systems in both the main house and studio, replacing ageing equipment with modern, energy-efficient LED fixtures.
The Fit at 50 campaign has been developed to ensure the Brewhouse remains a vibrant, welcoming and sustainable cultural venue for future generations, as the organisation prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027.
Vickie Robbins, Executive Director, said: “We are truly humbled by the support of our community and all of the donations that have achieved this milestone. We can’t wait to get the project up and running – which will hopefully be completed by August 2027.”
This first phase marks the beginning of a wider programme of investment in the building. Future projects will include roof repairs and maintenance, air conditioning improvements, and a range of additional enhancements designed to improve visitor comfort, accessibility and the overall customer experience.
