Leading British cheese exporter Somerdale International has been acquired by Barber’s Cheesemakers.
Somerdale will become a subsidiary of the Somerset-based firm but will continue to operate on a standalone basis from its own headquarters in Wellington.
Somerdale will retain all its UK and overseas staff and senior management.
Stephen Jones, co-founder and director of Somerdale, said: “Our vision has always been to grow, on a sustainable basis, the export of the finest British cheese and dairy products around the globe.
“We have made great progress in this and believe that our deal with Barber’s, with whom we share many common values and goals, will provide us with the necessary financial investment and security to take British dairy exports to the next level.”
