NRL Group signs the Armed Forces Covenant

To formalise its ongoing support for the Armed Forces community, engineering recruitment and contracting specialists the NRL Group has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and achieved the bronze Employer Recognition Scheme award.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation to those who serve or who have served, and their families. Pledging to ensure they are treated fairly and not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives. Businesses who sign the covenant agree to honour this promise and look for opportunities to encourage support for reserves, employment for veterans, service personnel and their families.

Announcing they have added their company name to the growing list of signatories ahead of Reserves Day and Armed Forces Day 2022, provides a chance to reflect on the progress the NRL Group has already made to open up opportunities for veterans and departing service personnel to find future career support should they retire from serving our nation.

For over 10 years NRL’s Recruitment operations have worked with clients to identify opportunities for valuable transferrable skills gained during a career in service, to be deployed within the engineering, built environment and power generation sectors.

This includes providing nuclear clearance and onboarding to place service veterans such as Royal Navy personnel into safety-critical roles such as health physics on nuclear power stations. Taking responsibility for ensuring worker safety through radiation protection and monitoring dosimetry on-site and, in doing so, providing a vital support service.

Key skills including the ability to work under pressure, attention to detail and accuracy, all make service personnel the ideal candidates to work within this role, as well as countless others.

Colleagues across the NRL Group were passionate about getting involved with the Armed Forces Covenant.

NRL’s Rebecca Graves said: “We’re delighted to be able to formalise our commitment to our devoted Armed Forces community. Whether that’s supporting them to find roles across our own operations or working for the technical and engineering companies who we support every day.

“There are such a vast and wide range of transferrable skills that service personnel develop whilst selflessly serving our nation, so it’s always an absolute pleasure to be able to guide and support them to find a new career direction after leaving the military that they’ll find just as rewarding.

“Service personnel bring with them experience, knowledge and value that is unrivalled – so we actively encourage our clients to consider ex-forces candidates for roles within their business, understanding the mutual benefits this employment can provide.”

Once signed up, organisations can work towards achieving bronze, silver and gold in the Employer Recognition Scheme.
