Relocating your entire life and family to a new country is a significant milestone on its own. Now, imagine doing this while leaving behind a high-flying and long-established career as a solicitor and barrister, essentially having to start over.
This was the challenge faced by AmicusLaw Solicitors’ Kelechi Adiele and it’s a challenge he met with remarkable success, earning him the prestigious Paralegal of the Year Award.
Kelechi had an impressive career history spanning more than 15 years in his home country of Nigeria. He founded and ran a successful law firm and through various roles, built a strong reputation as a leading litigation solicitor and barrister.
In the midst of his busy work schedule, Kelechi found the time to provide private tutorials to law students of the National Open University of Nigeria. He was also the was Senior Editor of of Nigerian Labour Law Reports.
In making the challenging decision to move his life to the UK, he not only had to adjust to a new society and build a new life for his family, but also essentially start his career from scratch. He needed to retrain to become a solicitor recognised in UK law.
Kelechi took every step of the journey in his stride. A spokesperson for the company said: “Although Kelechi worked across a diverse range of litigation matters, he was quick to develop a real specialism within property and estates, dealing with some of the firm’s most complex landlord disputes and contentious probate matters.
“These cases are renowned for the level of emotional stress they can bring to those involved, and Kelechi has a unique way of delivering every aspect of the legal service with the utmost empathy and care, while also working tirelessly to deliver results for the client.
“Kelechi sets an impressive example to the next generation of aspiring paralegals and solicitors that with the right ambition and mindset, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.”
