Somerset businesses are being invited to take part in World Quality Month this November, with a free notice-board poster and materials from Chamber member David Hutchins International.
Japan has celebrated Quality Month every November since 1960. The poster suggests six simple, no-cost ideas any workplace can try: a “Best Hidden Cost” award, a Kaizen board in every area, a slogan competition, a “thank you” wall, a quality quiz, and inviting a key supplier in. There are also “Hidden Cost Spotted!” slips so staff can record costs nobody had noticed.
Thursday, November 12, is World Quality Day. David Hutchins International will award a certificate to the organisation with the best all-round Quality Month. Entries are due by 30 November. “It needs no budget,” says David. “Just a notice board and the willingness to involve everyone. Some of the best ideas come from the people nobody thinks to ask.”
