Blackstar Solutions raised over £5,000 in September last year for the company’s supported charities – Jessie May and St Peter’s Hospice. The team walked 45km over 45 bridges (every bridge in Bristol) in one day.
This year staff wanted to do something different to help and, after speaking to the charities, found the most valuable way to help would be by volunteering.
As a result, Blackstar is committing two working days per employee to volunteer throughout the year on top of any fundraising events the company participates in.
So far, the team has helped with the gardening on the beautiful grounds of St Peter’s Hospice, volunteered in Children’s Hospice South West charity shop labelling children’s clothes, as well as marking up home goods in their warehouse, and also set up gazebos and bunting for charity events.
A spokesman for Blackstar said: “We constantly communicate with the charities and always welcome any volunteering opportunities, no matter how big or small. Our team love the volunteering activities that the charities offer. A strong relationship is built between Blackstar and our charities, and we are committed to helping in every way we can.”
