Blackdown Financial recognised in two national award categories as team member earns industry shortlist

Blackdown Financial has been named a bronze winner in both the SME of the Year and Employer of the Year categories at the Great British Business & Community Awards 2026, marking a strong start to the firm’s awards season.

The independent financial planning firm said the recognition was particularly significant given the level of competition, with more than 260 nominations submitted in the SME of the Year category and more than 175 nominations received for Employer of the Year.

By securing bronze winner status, Blackdown Financial has automatically progressed to the silver and gold stages of the awards programme. Final judging is scheduled to take place later this week, ahead of the awards ceremony on September 25.

A spokesperson for Blackdown Financial said the achievement reflected the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the firm’s team: “This recognition is particularly meaningful given the strength of competition and is a testament to the passion, dedication and professionalism our team shows every day.

“As an independent financial planning firm, our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we are incredibly proud to see their efforts recognised on a national stage.”

The company is also celebrating an individual achievement within its team, with Gabrielle Arey shortlisted for Young Administrator of the Year at the Money Marketing Young Financial Planning Awards.

The spokesperson said the shortlisting recognised Gabrielle’s contribution to supporting both clients and colleagues and reflected her dedication within the business.

The Money Marketing Young Financial Planning Awards ceremony is due to take place in London on October 6.

“This is a well-deserved achievement for Gabrielle and the entire team will be cheering her on at the awards ceremony,” the spokesperson said.

The firm thanked its employees, clients and professional connections for their continued support.

With further judging stages and award ceremonies still to come, Blackdown Financial said it was looking forward to the remainder of the awards season and the opportunity to celebrate future successes with its team and stakeholders.
