“Wonderful Things!” Tutankhamun: his tomb, treasures, and extraordinary family

In November 2025 we celebrated the long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. A sumptuous display of over 5000 of Tutankhamun’s treasures is the highlight of this spectacular new museum.

Join this course with Egyptologist to find out more about Ancient Egypt’s most fascinating royal family, including Tutankhamun’s ‘heretic’ father Akhenaten, and intriguing stepmother Nefertiti. To explore the childhood and reign of the celebrity boy-king, and the design and decoration of the most famous tomb in the Valley of the Kings. To examine the exciting discovery and the incredible wealth of funerary goods found within, from the iconic golden funerary mask to ornate board games.

Set in the peaceful Somerset countryside near Wincanton, Holbrook Manor is a graceful Georgian house combining heritage, comfort, and tranquillity. Its elegant architecture and landscaped gardens create a calm, inspiring setting, while cosy bedrooms and freshly prepared home-cooked meals ensure a relaxing stay. Guests can also enjoy complimentary use of the indoor pool, spa bath, sauna, and steam room.

With its serene atmosphere and warm hospitality, Holbrook Manor is the perfect place to learn, connect, and unwind.

The course runs from dinner on the first day (15th June) until lunch on the last day (17th June)
