Ruth Swain is a Chartered Marketer with over 15 years’ experience helping businesses connect more effectively with their customers through clearer messaging, stronger positioning and practical marketing strategies.

She is currently Head of Marketing at Revenue by Design, alongside running her own consultancy, RA Digital, where she works with SMEs on marketing strategy, customer understanding and brand development.

Ruth is particularly passionate about helping businesses move beyond assumptions and really understand the people they are trying to reach. Her approach combines strategic thinking with real world experience, always keeping the customer at the centre.

Outside of work, Ruth is a long-standing Scout Leader, mum, and enthusiastic outdoors person, bringing plenty of energy, curiosity and a people-first approach into everything she does.

This session will explore the importance of customer personas, why they matter, and how they can help businesses make better marketing decisions. Ruth will guide attendees through the basics of building useful customer personas, understanding motivations and challenges, and using those insights to create more relevant marketing and stronger customer connections.
