Somerset will soon be home to the biggest electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility in the UK and we are delighted to be able to invite local business to find out more directly from the company behind the scheme, Agratas. 
Join Somerset Chamber at The Canalside Conference Centre, in Bridgwater, to hear directly from Agratas about progress at site and the opportunities that this exciting project will bring.
The gigafactory will be built on the Gravity site at Puriton, near Bridgwater and represents a £4 billion investment in Somerset, which will directly create 4,000 new jobs and thousands more in the wider supply chain.
Battery production is due to begin in 2027 and by the early 2030s it will contribute almost half of the projected battery manufacturing capacity required for the UK automotive sector.
Agratas is working closely with a host of local and regional partners, including Somerset Council, University Centre Somerset College Group and the wider Gravity Smart Campus, to deliver bespoke education and training programmes in the region, creating local jobs for local people.
The event is being sponsored by Jays Transport. The company is local, family owned transport company, part of RT Keedwell Group, providing first class distribution and warehousing.
Established in 1988, they are now a premier provider of South West regional distribution and UK and Irish pallet distribution services. They serve clients through their main depot off the M5 in Highbridge, as well as through their parent company and longstanding membership of The Pallet Network.
