Annual Bank of England update - September 2026

Somerset Chamber of Commerce in association with the Bank of England invite you to join us for an annual update over breakfast at Taunton Racecourse.

Malindi Myers, from the Bank of England, will present an update to the Bank’s economic overview and forecasts, covering output and activity (GDP), the labour market, inflation and the monetary policy stance.

Malindi will present the main messages and then take questions, which we hope will stimulate some discussion of the pressures and opportunities facing businesses in the South West.

Past topics of discussion have included:

• household consumption,
• consumer spending,
• employment rates,
• the effects of the depreciation in sterling,
• inflation rates
• consumer and business confidence

There will be a cooked breakfast, with tea and coffee and networking opportunities.
