Distinctive Communications shortlisted for two major awards

Specialist consultancy Distinctive Communications is on the shortlist for two major PR industry awards, recognising its client care, growth and impact as a purposeful business over the last year.

The team is finalist in the long-term client care category at the CIPR Excellence Awards, which celebrate the best public relations work from across the UK.

It is also shortlisted for small to medium consultancy of the year at the PRCA DARE Awards South West and Wales, following a year of growth for the business and its team.

“Being shortlisted for two respected industry awards is a lovely moment for the team and comes off the back of some tremendous progress over the last year,” said Distinctive founder and director Ben Lowndes.

“We’ve worked hard to build a consultancy that takes client care seriously, makes a positive difference and gives people the trust and flexibility to do their best.”

The PRCA DARE Awards shortlisting recognises the consultancy’s wider progress, and positive social impact. Since last year, Distinctive has grown from four to six people, with turnover increasing by more than a third.

The agency was also recognised last year as the smallest organisation to become a fully accredited member of the West of England Good Employment Charter.

The CIPR shortlist recognises Distinctive’s approach to long-term client relationships, including its work supporting the regeneration of Gloucester city centre.

The team has advised on the £200m Kings Quarter regeneration since 2018, and today supports The Forum – a £107m mixed-use development now nearing completion. Distinctive’s work has helped maintain confidence in the project and secure positive media coverage as the scheme has moved from early plans to delivery.

“Our clients’ success is our success,” said Ben.

“We’re often working alongside them through complex, long-term projects where trust, consistency and good judgement matter just as much as creativity.”

Distinctive’s recent client survey recorded a Net Promoter Score of 83, with almost every respondent scoring the consultancy nine or 10 out of 10.

PRCA Dare Awards winners will be announced on June 3, with the CIPR Excellence Awards being held in London on July 1.

Founded in 2022, Distinctive supports organisations across property, placemaking, education, charity, transport and professional services. Over the last year, the consultancy has worked with 26 clients, including Beard Construction, First Bus, Henley Business School and Homes England.
