Brown & Brown professional supports brain tumour charity in memory of sister

George Tucker, an Insurance Account Executive at Brown & Brown in Somerton, is marking 20 years since the loss of his younger sister by raising awareness and support for families affected by brain tumours.

Mr Tucker’s sister, Tori, was just nine years old when she died in 2006 following an eight-month battle with a brain tumour. Despite her age, she showed what her family describe as remarkable courage throughout her illness.

At the time of Tori’s diagnosis in April 2006, the charity Brain Tumour Support stepped in to help the family navigate what Mr Tucker has described as one of the darkest periods of their lives. The organisation provided vital guidance, emotional reassurance and practical support, helping them cope with both the immediate shock of the diagnosis and the challenges that followed.

Over the years, Brain Tumour Support has continued to play an important role in helping Mr Tucker process his grief. Access to one-to-one counselling has enabled him to better understand his emotions and develop practical ways to cope with loss, reinforcing the message that grieving is a natural and ongoing process.

Now, on the 20th anniversary of Tori’s death, Mr Tucker is giving back to the charity that supported his family when they needed it most. Through fundraising efforts, he hopes to ensure that other families facing a brain tumour diagnosis receive the same level of care, compassion and guidance.

George said: “To date, I’ve raised just over £12,000 with the help of friends, family, work teammates and insurer partners. I’m truly humbled, thank you.”

He is encouraging members of the public to contribute through his JustGiving page, highlighting the difference that even small donations can make to those dealing with the devastating impact of serious illness.

Funds raised will go towards supporting Brain Tumour Support’s ongoing work, which includes counselling services, practical advice, and emotional support for patients and their families.
