Results put Huish Law School in to the top 3% in the UK

Richard Huish College’s Law School is celebrating a year of record-breaking results, national recognition, and student success stories that are inspiring the next generation of legal professionals.

In 2025, Huish Law School cemented its place among the very best in the country, ranking in the top 3% of all UK schools and colleges for A Level law. Over 120 students sat their exams, with 17% achieving A* (compared to the national average of just 4.6%) and 41% securing A-A grades* (national average: 16%). With a 100% pass rate and 90% of students achieving A-C*.

For the fourth year running, Huish Law School has been in the top 10% nationally, something the college said was a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to excellent teaching through the values of honesty, integrity and hard work.

Every teacher at Huish Law School is a law specialist, bringing real-world expertise and a passion for student progress.

Course Manager, Rowena Mudge, said: “I am incredibly proud of our team and what we have developed at Huish Law School. These results are not unique – we have consistently been in the top 10% nationally for the last four years but I couldn’t be more proud of the top 3% position the school has achieved this year. The huge success of our law school is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the ambition of our students.”

Huish Law School’s enrichment programme is also one of the largest in the country, offering students the chance to take part in mooting (mock trials and competitions), a law society, an annual law conference and the use of an in-college courtroom for practical learning.

This year, the school’s mooting team won regional heats and reached the finals of the Bar Mock Competition at the Royal Courts of Justice, winning every round. The Law Society, launched with the support of leading law firm Davitt Jones Bould, is already making waves and Huish Law School was named runner-up in the National Innovation category at the Sixth Form College Association Awards.

Esmé Jolly, VWV Solicitor Apprentice, said: “Huish Law School has changed my life. The support from my teachers gave me the confidence and skills to pursue a solicitor apprenticeship, and I’m now starting my career with VWV.

“The Law Society and mooting programme were key to my success—they helped me develop oracy, professionalism, and ambition. The new courtroom has also had a huge impact. It’s more than just a space—it symbolises what we can become. It reminds us of the years ahead and the endless opportunities we can pursue. I would encourage anyone interested in law to come to Huish.”

Joseph Bennett Assistant Principal – Business, Law and Creative Industries, added: “I’m incredibly proud of our team for the continued development of our law provision and the opportunities open to students. These exceptional results are a testament to the dedication, resilience, and hard work of both staff and students. It’s a real privilege to see so many young people achieving so much in their law studies as they move on to their next steps.”
