Education Support Services charity launches minibus crowdfunder

Education Support Services (ESS) has launched a crowdfunding project, to raise £5,000 towards the cost of buying a minibus to support their young clients with SEND.

The public transport network in Somerset is limited so is not suitable for use for many young people making it difficult for young people to get help and support.

As the young people have SEND, taxis can be challenging. Several, for example, have autism, which makes using public transport or different cars and drivers extremely difficult while others have sensory conditions.

Fran Deeley of ESS said: “ESS would love to purchase a minibus which would be used to transport young people between home and classroom.

“Our team understand the needs of young people and know how to best support them with tools and techniques; as trained team member would accompany the pupils in the minibus, they could spot triggers and deal with any difficulties before or as they arose.

“This would enable a smooth transition into and out of the learning environment enabling all young people to start their day of learning in an optimum state and ending their day in a positive way.”

A minibus would also allow increased accessibility to educational workshops designed for parents and young people across a wider geographical area.
