A Taunton law firm has pledged to extend its support for its two chosen charities after halting fundraising activities during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Clarke Willmott LLP named Pancreatic Cancer UK and the Somerset Accident Voluntary Emergency Service (SAVES) its official office charities in 2020. The partnership was due to end this year but with stilted fundraising efforts because of the lockdown, the office has announced they will continue support for a further two years until 2022.
Pancreatic Cancer UK supports sufferers, funds research and campaigns to improve the future for those affected by the disease. SAVES provides and supports a network of volunteer doctors to assist the ambulance service in Somerset.
Chris Thorne (pictured), Partner in Clarke Willmott’s Taunton office, said: “We’re delighted to have extended our support of Pancreatic Cancer UK and SAVES until 2022 instead of 2020 as originally planned.
“The circumstances of this year have meant that we were unable to hold any of the usual in-office fundraising activities and we didn’t want the charities to be short-changed.
“Corporate Social Responsibility is vitally important to us at Clarke Willmott in Taunton. We have had the good fortune to have worked in partnership with some amazing charities over the years and we were looking forward to ending our partnership with these organisations with a bang.
“All charities have been hit extremely hard by the pandemic so we will do our best to help financially and in any other way we can during these difficult times.”
Clarke Willmott staff hold regular events throughout the year to raise money for their office charities including dress down days, bake sales, raffles, first Friday drinks and tuckshops. Each office also plans its own additional activities such as quizzes, team and individual staff challenges including runs, skydives and triathlons.
Since 2018 Clarke Willmott has also held clay pigeon shooting and Golf Days to raise money for both charities.
Clarke Willmott is a national law firm with offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
