Celebrating Sedgemoor's unsung heroes

NOMINATIONS open later this week for the second Pride of Sedgemoor Awards, which are designed to showcase and celebrate the great work and achievements by the people of Sedgemoor.

Charity heroes, sporting superstars and community businesses are all eligible to be nominated – and there are still sponsorship opportunities available for local businesses which would like to support an award.

Organised by the Bridgwater Mercury, the inaugural awards last year were a huge success and included categories for sporting achievement, 999 hero, lifesavers and volunteers.

Mercury editor, Paul Jones, said: “The Pride of Sedgemoor Awards were a highlight of last year.

“It’s great to be able to give some recognition to those who work so hard to our community what it is – particularly those who may not otherwise get a lot of time in the spotlight.”

Businesses which would like to get involved should contact Rob Stacey, Retail Sales Manager, at Newsquest Somerset, on 01823 365010 or email
