On a glorious May Day Bank Holiday Sunday, the team at Walpole Dunn joined 800 other runners at the first ever Taunton Ciderthon, held at Longrun Meadows.
The event, previously held in Wells, invites runners of all capabilities to complete a half marathon route with a difference – after each exhausting mile a cider checkpoint offering tasters from one of thirteen local cider makers.
With no experience of half marathons and having undertaken what, in hindsight, was clearly far too little training, Team Walpole Dunn was thrilled to cross the finish line together, collapse and then receive their final congratulatory cider!
As well as being lead corporate sponsor of the event, Walpole Dunn also ran in aid of Somerset Sight, which is celebrating its centenary year. Including Gift Aid, the team managed to raise over £380, contributing to the total £2,700 that was raised from this event in the charity’s name.
Walpole Dunn will be continuing to support Somerset Sight throughout its centenary year, including at its 100k Tandem Bike Ride on 1 June and its “Dining in the Dark” experience in December.
