Specialist metalwork company Taunton Fabrications had a key role to play in the recently completed new UK Hydrographic Office headquarters in Taunton.
Taunton Fabrications was awarded the structural steelwork and architectural metalwork package for the project, which included delivering an impressive 120 tonne structural steel façade.
The interior called for generous staircases, open balconies and wide bridges. This created a physical and visual connection between all parts of the building, giving an impressive sense of openness, which followed a theme of ‘Seabed to Surface’ with images of strata, contours and water currents influencing the aesthetic design throughout.
Construction work began in 2017 and the building was officially handed over in January 2019.
