In its first year of trading, The Ranch Café has landed a Taste of the West Gold award and top reviews on TripAdvisor and is now planning an extension to help people celebrate Christmas in style!
The Ranch Café and Deli is a family run business and, although independent, it forms part of the wider Southfork Caravan Park, business in Martock.
Work began on the café back in the winter of 2019 – with the help of designers at fellow Chamber member 3idog – with a view to open in Easter last year. But the pandemic had other ideas and the opening was delayed until July.
Thanks to staycationers, business quickly built-up and in the first year of opening the café achieved a Taste of the West Gold award for with great comments from the judges for the use of all local produce and providing a great service.
“We have built up a great reputation with also 23, five bubble reviews on TripAdvisor and 14 5* reviews on Google. All produce in the café has been locally sourced and used within our menus. Some of these include Cherry Tree Produce made in Martock, Longmans cheese, Silverthorne Farm Eggs, Winters Butchers, Taylors of Bruton,” said café manager, Kirsty Broadley.
The Ranch has also picked up a good local trade, particularly for its breakfasts, so much so, that demand can often outweigh seating capacity and plans are in the pipeline to extend the seating area from 18 to 32 covers.
Kirsty added: “We are really looking forwards to this year being able to open at Christmas, not only having Christmas parties but also being able to offer meals on Christmas Day. We are also planning to do Christmas hampers which will be filled with our own and local produce.”
