Successful annual conference for SSG Training and Consultancy

SSG Training and Consultancy held their very successful fourth Annual Conference on Thursday, 17 October, at Future Inns, in Plymouth.

Each year the conference is run for members of SSG’s ADVISOR Health and Safety, HR and ISO schemes. The day is a chance for members to hear updates from the worlds of Health and Safety, HR and ISO. It also enables them to network with other companies and SSG’s consultants and membership team.

Following introductions, the first half began with Ian Tagg speaking to attendees about Fire Safety and the Future, with specific relation to the Dame Judith Hackett review of Grenfell Tower in 2017. This was followed by Tim Harnett with a Health and Safety Legislative Update, looking at health and safety cases over the past twelve months and their outcomes.

The second half featured Tim Davies, employment law consultant at TDJ Law, with his HR and Legislative Case Update, again looking at HR cases and the outcomes for both parties involved. Vicki Goucher followed by discussing Sources, Impacts and Identification of Stress and how companies can help their employees.

Manuela Grossmann was the final presenter of the day with an introduction to Health and Wellbeing in the workplace, as well as the services that SSG can provide to assist companies struggling in this area.

To close off the day, Managing Director Mark Salmon thanked members who had been a part of SSG’s membership scheme for 10 years or more: Coyde Construction Ltd, Cornerstone Housing Ltd, J R Flat Roofing Ltd, North Devon Homes, Pavilion Construction Ltd, Red Rock Electrical Ltd and The Architects Design Group.

Denise Maclean, Marketing Manager at SSG, said: “This year’s event was a huge success and we were pleased to see so many members in attendance.  Delegates were engaged and interested in the subjects covered throughout the conference, and there were great discussions being had both during the presentations and the comfort breaks. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for our fifth annual conference!”
