Stanley Johnson and his wife Jenny visit St. Margaret’s Hospice

Author, former politician, I’m a Celebrity contestant and The Real Marigold Hotel star Stanley Johnson visited St. Margaret’s Hospice yesterday, Tuesday 21 August, with his wife Jenny ahead of his special guest appearance at the Great Somerset Ball in September.

Stanley and Jenny visited the hospice to find out more about the vital services they provide for Somerset patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. He will be entertaining guests

during the hospice’s glamorous black tie event at Somerset County Cricket Club, which will take place on Friday 28 September.

The ball will be raising funds for St. Margaret’s Hospice while celebrating everything great about Somerset. After NHS funding, the charity needs to raise over £9.5m

this year to deliver high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients, their families and carers across the county.

Stanley, who lives locally on Exmoor with his wife Jenny, said: “This is an amazing place, we are tremendously impressed. We had the chance today not only to meet the staff and volunteers of the wonderful St. Margaret’s Hospice but also to see the facilities which, to our minds, represent an amazingly high level of compassionate care.”

He added: “It was wonderful to be able to visit and talk to a patient and his family, a young man who exemplifies everything that St. Margaret’s Hospice is about, in terms of the brilliant care he was receiving surrounded by his family and loved-ones.”

The Great Somerset Ball, kindly sponsored by Cooper Associates and Maitland Walker, will begin with a complimentary cocktail followed by a delicious three-course meal. The evening entertainment includes a charity auction before guests dance the night away to music from premier South West covers band Eventine.

Tickets are limited so don’t miss out on this exclusive opportunity to attend this special ball to celebrate Somerset at its finest. Tickets cost £55 per person, £550 for a table of 10. To book, please call 01823 365603.
