Pallett logistics and haulage experts C & D South West is continually looking for new ways to develop existing staff and bring new faces into the transport industry and the company’s own apprenticeship scheme and in-house Driver Academy have been going from strength-to-strength.
Representatives from C & D South West recently took part in the Yeovil College Apprenticeship fair to promote the company’s apprenticeships and career opportunities.
In the last month, two more trainees have graduated from the Driver Academy – Robert Adamowicz and Mauro Mateus both successfully passed the theory and practical elements of their LGV apprenticeships.
C & D South West’s main apprenticeships are focused around the Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver Apprenticeship (Level 2) for either Category C or C+E. Transplant Mastertrain, in Exeter, provides the training and apprenticeships are also available for warehouse and office positions, too.
There is no age restriction to becoming an LGV apprentice and apprentices combine study with hands-on training, including the fundamental aspects of being an operator within the logistics sector.
Most of the training is carried out at C & D South West, while Transplant Mastertrain visit at least every 10 weeks to review progress and micro-teaching sessions. There is also online and masterclasses on subjects such as drivers’ hours, load security, driver responsibilities, route planning and many other topics.
