New family music and food festival announced at Wincanton Racecourse

Wincanton Racecourse and Under the Apple Tree have announced a new family day festival on Sunday, July 5, 2020. The inaugural Wincanton Country will be headlined by Brit duo The Shires with Los Pacaminos and Rich Hall’s Hoedown.

Hosted at Wincanton Racecourse, the festival will offer an afternoon of family fun activities alongside live music and plenty of good food and family entertainment. Fans of outdoor music events are urged to give their friends a holler, gather family and children and prepare for a magical toe tapping event.

Formed in 2013, chart toppers The Shires are a superb British country duo composed of singer-songwriters Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes. They were the first UK country act to chart in the Top 10 of the UK Album Chart. The groups second album My Universe, became the fastest-selling UK country album in history when released in October 2016.

Los Pacaminos is led by one of the UK’s finest and best loved vocalists – Paul Young. The seven-piece Americana group includes some of the best musicians in the business who have teamed up to present this mix of Tex-Mex classics that will have you dancing the day away. These guys have played with the best in the business including Queen, Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, First Aid Kit and more, now watch them at Wincanton.

Rich Hall’s comedy/music locomotive is an ever-evolving, ever-changing combination of keen acerbic stand-up combined with spit and sawdust alt-country lyricism. His acclaimed BBC4 documentaries and his Radio 4 series Election Breakdown have established a legion of followers and he’s also a stalwart of QI and Have I Got News For You. But his Hoedown Deluxe covers the full anatomical spectrum.

Wincanton Racecourse General Manager, Huw Williams, said: “Wincanton Country will be one of the most exciting events held at the racecourse away from our usual race days bringing hundreds of regular visitors and newcomers to south Somerset at the start of the busy summer holiday season. We hope that it will prove a real boon to Wincanton and beyond, and that people enjoy what should be an incredible day for all the family.”

Tickets are on sale online now with advanced tickets at £35 for adults and £15 for children or by telephoning 0344 5793014 or 01963 435840. Advance Group Bookings of six or more are £32 per ticket. (Booking fee applicable).
