Having worked closely with We Hear You for several years, Frome-based managed IT service provider, Netitude decided it was time to do some fundraising for the charity.
We Hear You (WHY) provides free counselling and emotional support for patients, families, friends and carers who have been affected or bereaved by cancer or any other life-threatening condition across Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.
The team’s challenge was to raise £2,000 for WHY and to do this, a team of five keen volunteers from across the company decided to skydive 10,000ft from a plane. After hitting their target, the group decided to raise the stakes and jump from 15,000ft, the highest point you can jump from in the UK, doubling their free-fall to a full minute!
The team was due to jump in early June, but poor weather conditions meant they had to postpone. The day finally came on July 13! While it was touch-and-go whether they would get to jump, they completed their skydiving adventure for We Hear You. The team described the experience as “scary, exciting, and just plain surreal”.
With the support of family, friends, and lovely clients, they raised an impressive £2,438 for the charity.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the fundraising experience and the challenge that came along with it, the team is already thinking about what to do next!
