Somerset-based C&D South West Ltd, based in Chard, has, once again been successful in achieving Bronze status in The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.
The scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for logistics companies which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations and to demonstrate that those operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.
In passing the audit and becoming FORS accredited once again, C&D South West has demonstrated that it is contributing to creating and maintaining higher standards within the transport industry, and that thebusiness will continue to benefit from being safer and more fuel efficient in the sort and long-term.
Despite the problems brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting suspension of the scheme back in March, the audits were eventually phased back in from July and C&D’s Bronze accreditation was finally announced last week.
Lorna Hammond, Managing Director of C&D South West Ltd, said: “The team here at C&D are delighted that we’ve been awarded with the FORS Bronze accreditation for another year, which clearly demonstrates that we, as an operator employ good practices and comply with the requirements laid out by The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme standard.
“This illustrates yet again that we are dedicated to driver and vehicle safety, and 100% committed to improving operating practices through effective monitoring of fuel and tyre usage.
“Being part of FORS allows C & D South West Ltd to undertake best practice processes within a commercial vehicle fleet operation and critically, it provides our customers with the assurance that, by us being a FORS operator, we are wholly committed to the best possible standards of safety and compliance on a day to day basis.”
John Hix, Director of FORS, added: “FORS is built around a principle of continuous improvement, where members strive for even higher operational standards as they progress through the levels of the scheme. FORS accreditation goes beyond basic legal compliance, with our members able to tangibly evidence how they far exceed the legal basics by following our unique mix of driver and management training, robust auditing and statistic-based efficiencies, backed up by a range of online support tools and guidance from our national helpline.
“Our vision is to enable all fleet operators to attain and maintain the best possible level of productivity and efficiency with the least impact on society and the environment and to facilitate continuous improvements in operating standards”
