Somerset-based company, Living DNA, won two coveted prizes at the South West International Trade awards in recognition of the growth of the company in both international territories and in the UK.
The global consumer DNA testing firm, praised for its accurate and secure ancestry service, first won the International Growth award and then went on to win one of the Company of the Year accolades.
In recognition of the company’s success in overseas markets, the judges were quoted as saying that “no one could hold a candle” to Living DNA.
The pioneering DNA firm was also selected by the judges for Company of the Year in acknowledgement of how the business uses cutting-edge DNA science to bring people together with strong ethical overtones to its mission.
Living DNA, which launched in September 2016, has gone from strength-to-strength. A reflection of the company’s success in international markets, 70 per cent of all sales are outside the UK with the highest sales recorded in the USA, then Europe, Australia and Canada.
Living DNA was built on the foundation that everyone across the world is connected based on their DNA. The company provides an education programme to schools with DNA testing at its heart to teach children about migration and their own family history.
Living DNA’s pioneering test provides the most detailed and accurate ancestry overview. Offering over twice the level of detail compared to others on the market, it breaks down a person’s ancestry results to 80 worldwide regions, including 21 in the UK.
Hannah Morden-Nicholson, Co-founder at Living DNA, comments:
“We are honoured as a business to receive these awards, as it reflects not only the future of this industry but also the great work that has been done to date by everyone involved directly and indirectly with the business. This marks for us another milestone that we deeply appreciate.
“Living DNA’s service is constantly evolving as we connect more people across the world through their DNA, and we look forward to continuing this success globally.”
David Clensy South West Business Insider editor, comments:
“The rise of Living DNA in just a couple of years has been extraordinary, particularly on the international stage, with the company clearly striking a chord with people across the world looking to find out more about where they have come from. The judging panel were particularly impressed by the rate of growth the company has seen for its international trade. So it was great to see the business achieve not just one, but two wins on the night.”
The fifth South West International Trade Awards, which took place at Mercure Bristol Grand was compered by Hugh Ferris and sponsored by HSBC Bank plc, while Bristol Airport and KLM sponsored the drinks reception.
