Pupils at King’s Hall School, in Taunton, have been embracing the true meaning of Christmas this year as they work with local charity, the Christmas Sparkle Project, to bring festive cheer to children across Somerset.
The Christmas Sparkle Project is an organisation that works with local schools, charities and agencies who support families in need. Their goal is to give a Christmas gift to every child aged 0-18 living in difficult circumstances in the Taunton and Wellington areas.
To help the King’s Hall pupils learn a little more about the project, Christmas Sparkle volunteer, Penny, led a school assembly in which she spoke to the children about the importance of giving. Inspired by her words, the school community came together to collect presents for the charity.
Pupil Council Co-ordinator, Karen Foster, said: “We were overwhelmed by the kind generosity of our staff, parents and pupils. Thanks to their kindness, we had over 100 items ready to be taken back to the workshop for wrapping.”
“We can only express our gratitude to everyone who donated. These gifts will make a world of difference to those in need this Christmas.”
