Jays Logistics has achieved the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver accreditation. FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators who aim to raise the level of quality within fleet operations and demonstrates that operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.
Becoming a FORS member also gives Jays Logistics peace of mind that the company is managing its work related road risk, as well as demonstrating their commitment to exceeding industry standards to customers and the supply chain.
The benefits of the accreditation cover efficiencies across the fleet, with a combination of safety applications for all road users and members of the public, cost savings within the fleet through enhanced driving/fuel saving and reduced Co2 emissions, all via classroom-based theoretical and practical training.
For drivers the scheme aims to teach valuable skills in fuel saving, urban driving and safety by keeping them up-to-date with current practice and legislation.
FORS Silver also helps the operations management team monitor the fleet more closely and ensures vehicle safety and emission standards are met. The management team also passes on valuable training and knowledge to drivers and fleet which helps with driver morale, maintenance and fuel efficiency. This, in turn, helps the drivers and the fleet – the core of our business – become the best they can be.
A spokesman for Jays Logistics said: “As a business the FORS Silver accreditation brings a greater understanding towards improving our health and safety within the Jays operation. We hope that our business relationships are strengthened through the best practices across all areas of our business. Ultimately the scheme allows us to demonstrate continual improvement and sustainability with our fleet.”
From October 26 all HGVs more than 12 tonnes GVW entering or operating in Greater London will need to hold a safety permit. The scheme will be in operation 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The FORS Silver accreditation allows the company to be prepared for these changes, while still allowing them to operate within the new guidelines.
