SWAP Internal Audit Services has announced that Richard Chambers, formerly Global President and CEO of The Institute of Internal Auditors, has joined its board as the first independent non-executive director.
SWAP is a public sector partnership, which strives for excellence in the delivery of internal audit services. A spokesman for SWAP said Richard’s experience and profile in the international internal audit profession would be invaluable to support SWAP going forward.
Richard (pictured), who retired from the Institute of Internal Auditors, maintains a popular blog on audit and risk matters and has just released his fourth book. He is respected globally as a champion for the internal audit profession.
Richard said: “Serving on SWAP’s Board will be an extremely rewarding way to support the company’s very important mission in the UK. Having spent more than a quarter-century in Government auditing and more than 45-years serving in and for the internal audit profession, I look forward to adding valuable perspectives to SWAP management.
“I have long said that Government auditors are vital ‘guardians of public trust,’ and I look forward to joining SWAP’s other board members in bringing the level of governance oversight that SWAP Partners deserve.”
David Hill, CEO at SWAP, added: “The pace of change in the internal audit world and wider risk environment has never been faster. SWAP’s appetite for advancement and evolution continues to grow. As a motivated team we welcome Richard’s support in the pursuit of internal audit excellence in a world where change is the only constant and innovation is non-negotiable. From a personal view, I am excited to be working with Richard and of course the other board members.”
SWAP provides a comprehensive internal audit service primarily to its partners, but also on a commercial basis to other organisations.
