Taunton School student, 18-year-old Joleigh Roberts, has been selected for the Western Storm Academy programme.
Joleigh (pictured), who is in Year 13 at Taunton School, took part in trials before Christmas where she was put through her paces with a number of skills challenges. She is one of just 14 players to be selected from across the South-West region. 
Western Storm, which is one of eight elite regional women’s cricket teams in England, seeks to develop the most talented female players for international success. Joleigh will benefit from a broad range of support sessions to further her technical development including technical support, tactical awareness and a strength and conditioning programme.
Pete Sanderson, Director of Cricket at Taunton School, said: “Joleigh’s selection is richly deserved and is the result of talent and hard work. This experience will be invaluable to her development as a cricketer and I’m looking forward to hearing about how she gets on.”
Joleigh added: “I’m thrilled to have been selected for this program as it is such an amazing opportunity, especially as it’s the first ever Western Storm Academy. I’d like to thank Mr Sanderson, Mr Fowler and Mr Trescothick for all the support they have given me to help me on my journey.”
