Students at Taunton School had a unique opportunity to question a sporting superstar last week.
Through his ambassador role for sports brand Grays International, cricket legend Sir Alistair Cook works with schools to give advice to aspiring cricketers and this term Taunton School were chosen for a Q & A with the record-breaking batsman.
The session, which took place virtually due to current restrictions, was streamed live to the theatres in the Prep and Senior Schools so that as many students as possible could directly take part.
Some of the questions posed to the former England captain included how he juggled cricket and exams when he was at school, his strategies for remaining positive during difficult periods in his career and how COVID-19 has affected professional sport.
Pete Sanderson, Director of Cricket at Taunton School, said: “I was so impressed with how engaged Sir Alistair was with the students throughout the session – he came across as incredibly genuine. The advice he gave on dealing with nerves and coping under pressure will have impacted all who were listening, not only our cricketers.”
